May 2025 Product Updates

In our May release, the following products and features will become available to all Verkada customers. Updates will be released on May 15th.

Cameras

  • CY53-E Two-Camera Multisensor: Our newest multisensor includes two independent and adjustable image sensors in a single device to support bidirectional monitoring from one install point. Learn more.

  • People Lists: Organizations can now organize and sort Persons of Interest (POIs) into distinct People Lists. Furthermore, Admins can grant users or teams viewing and management permissions on a per list basis. Learn more.

  • Smart Lists: Smart Lists allow teams to create groups of individuals approved for specific areas within a building. Once enabled on specific cameras, Smart Lists will then display any people who do not match the list of pre-approved individuals. Perfect for highly-sensitive areas where only set groups of select people belong – like pharmacies, bank vaults, specialized areas in manufacturing facilities or warehouses, or sections of buildings that require varying security clearances – Smart Lists saves teams time and resources when monitoring protected zones.

  • Dual Ethernet Support for Command Connector: Command Connector customers can now use the second Ethernet port in the Command Connector to more easily connect to an isolated camera network – reducing network reconfiguration requirements. Learn more.

  • History Player Search Improvements: Organizations can now use history player search to locate vehicles of interest across wide areas – like throughout multiple city blocks – in addition to using it to find people.

  • FIPS-Validated Devices: Introducing our FIPS-validated 4K dome cameras (the CD63-F and CD63-E-F), and the FIPS-validated Command Connector (the CC700-F). The CC700-F supports encryption standards required for FedRAMP Ready (Moderate) deployments and enables government organizations to view non-Verkada cameras through a single, secure platform.

  • Support for Additional Languages in AI-Powered Search: AI-powered search can now support searches in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Korean, in addition to English.

  • Helix Alerts: In addition to pairing event data from third-party applications with camera footage, organizations can now use Helix to define custom criteria and receive real-time alerts when events of interest occur.

  • Granular Privacy Regions: Organizations can now create more granular privacy regions using a 60x60 grid (replacing the existing 10x10 grid) over a camera’s field of view.

  • Improved Camera Replacement Support: Organizations can now maintain their historic onboard footage from cameras undergoing RMAs.

  • 802.1x Support: For organizations with strict network security requirements, Verkada cameras now support network authentication using the 802.1x protocol.

  • Support for Non-Verkada PTZ Controls via Command Connector: Command Connector customers can use an Xbox controller, joystick, or controls within Command to manipulate non-Verkada PTZ cameras.

Connectivity

  • Cellular Gateways in GovCloud: The GC31 and GC31-E Cellular Gateways are now supported in Command organizations on AWS GovCloud. Learn more.

  • Pre-Change Wi-Fi Passwords: Organizations that regularly change Wi-Fi passwords can add new passwords in advance on their GW31-E gateways to prevent downtime.

  • Hidden SSID Support: GW31-E Wi-Fi gateways can now be connected to hidden network SSIDs.

Alarms

  • Access Control Door Triggers: Organizations with Verkada Access Control can now trigger alarms with door opened, door held open, and door forced open events – no extra sensors or wiring needed. Learn more.

  • PTZ Camera Triggers: PTZ cameras can now be configured to trigger an alarm when a person is detected in the frame.

  • LAN-Connected Keypads: BK22 keypads can be connected to the BP52 panel via LAN, making it easy to deploy any number of keypads throughout large sites. Learn more.

  • Daisy-Chaining Expanders: Organizations can now daisy-chain up to four BE32 expanders to each RS485 port on the BP52 panel, allowing for a total of 160 wired sensors per panel. Learn more.

  • Increased Wireless Sensor Limit: All wireless hub devices (BP52, BE32, BK22, WH52, and WH32 in hub mode) now support up to 160 wireless sensors.

  • BZ32 Siren Strobe: The BZ32 is a combined siren and strobe light that can be deployed indoors or outdoors with a wired or wireless connection. Learn more.

  • Automated Message via BZ11: Organizations can now trigger an automated message on BZ11 horn speakers in response to an alarm. Users can upload a recording or use the AI text-to-speech option to deliver the message in a human-like voice.

  • System Health Alerts: Organizations can now set up notifications via Alert Inbox for offline alarm devices, backup power failover, and supervised wiring issues.

  • Audit Logs: System changes are now captured in Command audit logs, providing admins a digital trail of user actions that affect alarm system behavior. Learn more.

  • New Alarms in Canada: New Alarms will be available in Canada on May 15th.

Access Control

  • Improved User Search & Filtering: Admins can now filter across 20+ attributes and refine their user searches to generate more precise and accurate results. Learn more.

  • Bulk Door Settings: Admins can select multiple doors within or across sites and make changes to configurations all at once. Learn more.

  • Favorite Doors on Pass App (Android): Organizations can now “favorite” doors on the Android version of the Verkada Pass app in addition to iOS, which will show at the top of the door list, regardless of the user’s proximity to that door. Learn more.

  • Improved Verkada Pass User Onboarding: A new and improved onboarding flow makes it easier for first-time users to log in and set permissions properly to have a more frictionless BLE unlock and app experience. Learn more.

Command

  • Improved Navigation for Settings Pages:  The Command admin and organization settings pages have been redesigned to enhance user navigation through improved menu organization with clearer headers and a more powerful search functionality that instantly filters across all settings. Learn More.

  • Extended Time Range Querying for Audit Logs: Command now supports extended time range querying for audit logs, allowing administrators to access up to 90 days of historical log data. Learn More.

  • Updates to SMS Carrier Support: Effective May 15, we're switching to Twilio for SMS delivery, with new sender numbers for US/Canada users while international customers still see "Verkada" as the sender. This change improves reliability while maintaining trust across regions. Learn More.

  • Verkada's Mobile App supports Guest, LPR, and Floorplans: Verkada now offers expanded alerting capabilities for Guest, Alarms, and Helix, enhancing monitoring and response to critical security events. Learn More.

  • Enhanced Alerting Capabilities: Verkada has expanded alert functionality to include events from Guest, Alarms, and Helix, significantly enhancing users' ability to monitor and respond to critical security issues. Learn More.

Intercom

  • LPR Data for Intercoms: License plates detected during intercom calls will now be integrated into the call receiving and call history experience. Learn more.

  • Unique Phone Number for Intercoms: Organizations can now associate each of their intercoms with a unique phone number. Learn more.

  • E911 Calling for Intercoms: Organizations can now route intercom calls directly to local 9-1-1 providers, as long as their intercom uses a unique, geo-appropriate phone number. Learn more.

  • TD53 Emergency Label Kit: For TD53 intercoms configured for emergency calling, clearly identify intercoms as emergency call boxes and communicate how to place an emergency call by adding an “Emergency” label and red button cover. Learn more.

  • Scheduled Firmware Updates: Organizations can now choose to schedule firmware updates during specific time windows, rather than having them pushed automatically. This can be configured in the 'Settings' tab for each intercom.

Workplace

  • Expanded On-Demand Credentialing Options: Grant access to visitors in two new ways: via unique entry codes or with QR codes. Open doors by scanning the QR code against a pre-existing QR code reader. Learn More.

  • Guest WiFi Integration: With the new Cisco Meraki WiFi integration, visitors can instantly connect to a guest WiFi network after they check in using a unique username and password. Learn More.

  • Enhanced Identity Document Verification: Customers can now scan both the front and back of a US-issued ID, helping to validate the authenticity of the document. Learn More.

  • Guest in Command Mobile App: Verkada Guest is now available in the Command mobile app, bringing full product line parity to the smartphone experience. Learn More.

  • Guest in Alert Inbox: Verkada Guest is now available in the natively integrated Alerts section of Command for both web and mobile users, creating a unified alerting experience across all product lines. Learn More.

  • Document Uploads and Profile Management for Visitors: Guest now allows volunteers to upload documents like certifications during check-in. Guest also has customizable expiration controls for approved visitor profiles, ensuring that frequent visitors are prompted to update their personal information regularly. Learn More.

  • [In Beta] PowerSchool Integration: For educational institutions, Guest now integrates with PowerSchool to enable automated two-way attendance data sync, eliminating double-entry by school administrators while maintaining accurate attendance records. Learn More.

  • Two-Tone Printing for Brother Printers: The Brother QL-820NWB label printer (Verkada SKU: ACCX-PRT-1) now supports dual-color printing with specialized thermal rolls, giving users the ability to create visitor badges with black or red borders and accents. Learn More.
