New Alarm Console Features Save Time for Multi-Site Organizations

Verkada’s BC51 Alarm Console is a unique, multifunctional product that gives users greater on-site control and visibility into a specific location’s security. In addition to serving as a keypad for arming and disarming a site, the Console allows for video recording through an integrated camera, as well as 2-way talk-down and text-to-speech announcements from Command directly to the Alarm Console in order to address visitors, staff, or possible intruders.

Today, we’re excited to announce two new features that make it easier and faster for administrators to manage Alarms across multiple sites: user-specific keycodes and the ability for a single Console to manage multiple sites.

Save Time with User-Specific Keycodes

In addition to site-based keycodes used to arm or disarm a specific location, we are now adding user-based keycodes that can be used across any site where the user has access. For multi-site organizations, this is an enormous time-saver. Admins only need to generate a single keycode per user, rather than a different code for every site where that employee has access. When an employee is added to a new site group in Command, their keycode automatically starts working for that site. Users can also generate their own keycode in Command with a single click, so admins don’t have to assign them.

If an employee’s site access changes or they leave the company, admins can simply remove that employee from a site group and their keycode will instantly stop working. Admin’s no longer need to manually delete the user’s keycode from every site.

User-based keycodes are easily managed in Command via the Admin page. Under Org Settings, select Users and then click into a specific user’s profile to view or generate their unique Alarm Console keycode.

Manage Multiple Sites With a Single Console

To further reduce the complexity of multi-site management, a single Alarm Console is now able to support multiple sites or subsites. For example, an organization could use one Console to separately arm or disarm the interior and exterior of a building, rather than needing a Console for each.

This makes it faster and easier for users to arm or disarm multiple sites at once. Users can also view side-by-side video footage across multiple locations, increasing visibility into what is happening in different areas of a property.

To enable this feature, select an Alarms site in Command and click over to the Devices tab. Click the three buttons to the right of the Console you wish to make multi-site, and choose the sites you want to associate with that Console.
