Announcing Important Command Connector Updates: ONVIF Profile S Conformance & Increased Support for RTSP Cameras
We introduced Command Connector to help organizations migrate legacy cameras to the cloud – delivering many of the benefits of Command, our cloud-based management platform, to non-Verkada cameras. To support a reliable cloud transition, we engineered Command Connector with the same principles with which we construct all of our hardware at Verkada: dependable, powerful, and aligned with industry standards. As such, we are proud to announce that Command Connector is now officially recognized as an Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) Profile S conformant client. This designation from ONVIF, an organization that sets global standards for how IP-based physical security products communicate within a network, serves as further evidence that Command Connector is able to reliably support cloud migrations of legacy devices at scale.
While ONVIF Profile S conformance highlights Command Connector’s reliability, we are also constantly looking to support additional third-party cameras via Command Connector. Now, in addition to the thousands of non-Verkada cameras compatible with Command Connector (inclusive of RTSP-compatible cameras that support ONVIF Profile S), Command Connector can also ingest feeds from RTSP-compatible cameras that are not ONVIF Profile S conformant. As a result, Command Connector now supports an even wider range of non-Verkada cameras – offering more organizations the necessary technical compatibility to migrate to Verkada’s cloud-based Command platform.
