Customers with specialized retention needs choose our extended cloud backup (ECB) offerings to meet their compliance or internal policy requirements. Today, we've made ECB even better by simplifying our licensing structure, allowing customers to claim storage in flexible, 30-day increments (or, “packs”) and manage their licenses directly via an intuitive self-service portal.
In addition to making it easier to add cloud storage when needed, these updates will provide organizations better visibility into retention periods, helping them adhere to their desired - or required - storage needs.
A New, Flexible Structure for ECB Licensing
All customers are currently entitled to 30 days of free cloud backup storage with the purchase of a Verkada camera. Until now, ECB licenses were packaged in predetermined retention periods (i.e., 60, 90, 120, 180, and 365 days). The new licensing structure allows organizations to extend their cloud backup in 30-day increments (“packs”) which can be stacked per device–giving organizations more granular control over the number of days of desired cloud backup.
Self-Service Portal: Empowering Cloud Backup Management
In order to streamline license management, it’s now possible to acquire “packs” through a new self-service portal.
The self-service portal empowers users to take control over their ECB license claiming process in the following ways:
Simple License Claiming: Admins can claim ECB licenses directly through the self-service portal, enabling customers to easily increase or decrease the number of packs while eliminating the need to reach out to a Verkada representative.
Seamless License Management: Easily track usage, and support compliance with retention requirements – all from one central dashboard.
Automatic Co-Terming: Eliminate the need to manually calculate renewal dates for ECB licenses. ECB licenses will now co-terminate with all other Command product licenses. This means all Command licenses, including ECB, will have a single expiration date–saving time and minimizing the risk of errors.

Once the desired cameras are selected, the customer can review and claim new ECB licenses
Our new ECB licensing structure and self-service portal will be available to customers on August 15, 2024.
