The Security Industry's MVPs: National Security Technician Day 2023
In honor of the first National Security Technician Day, the Verkada team would like to thank and celebrate the critical work of all security technicians worldwide. At Verkada, it’s our mission to protect people and property by building systems that safeguard the physical world. Security technicians are on the frontline of this mission every day as they help individuals and organizations install and maintain the technology that allows them to run safer, more efficient buildings.
“Everyday security technicians work face-to-face with clients to help install, maintain and educate customers on how to leverage innovative security technology to keep their facilities and their people safe. We consider these security technicians an extension of the Verkada team, and we would like to thank and recognize them for their work this National Security Technician Day.” Caleb Augustin, Director of Global Channel at Verkada
Security technicians work with our customers daily on anything from installations to configuration to maintenance. They are hands-on, showing customers how to operate their security systems – importantly, giving system administrators peace of mind that they are maximizing all of the features and tools to protect their organizations from potential threats. Security technicians share their expertise with customers and help empower them to feel confident in their solutions.
We spoke with Wachter, a Verkada Partner providing their clients with a diverse portfolio of technology solutions and services, about their team of security technicians and how they make a tangible impact for customers.
Wachter’s technicians bring a wide range of experience, with backgrounds spanning law enforcement, private investigation, construction and network engineering. Each Wachter technician brings a unique perspective on how to approach complex challenges relating to security and technology.
“We have one individual who effortlessly integrates cameras into challenging environments due to their prior experience with drywall/ mortar work, while another takes pride in finding creative ways of accessing hard-to-reach places with cabling.” Wachter, Verkada Channel Partner
Colin Angus, a Wachter technician who has been in the security industry for 23 years, says he most appreciates the “flexibility and diversity of work." “Being involved in an ever-changing field really keeps me on my toes,” he said. “It forces me to expand my knowledge with technology and installation methods.”
As a security technician, every day is different. Some days, security technicians will spend an entire day installing a brand-new system with a single client. On other days they will see multiple clients for short periods of time working on additions to existing systems. With each new day, there are new challenges to solve, new technologies to master, and new customers to help.
Colin describes the work he is doing as “rewarding” and enjoys having the opportunity to share his broad industry knowledge with people who may not be as familiar with physical security technology.
This National Security Technician Day, we want to thank Colin – and all security technicians – for their dedication to making the communities that we live and work in safer.
