Verkada Partners with The “I Love U Guys” Foundation to Elevate School Safety

In a collaboration to enhance school safety, we joined forces with The “I Love U Guys” Foundation, a national non-profit organization dedicated to standardizing crisis response in schools. This partnership solidifies our commitment to providing real-time monitoring and response capabilities, ultimately ensuring the safety of students during emergency situations.

A Unified Approach to School Safety

The “I Love U Guys” Foundation's programs, the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and the Standard Reunification Method (SRM), offer a standardized and shared language for crisis response. These programs have been implemented in over 50,000 schools, creating a common understanding among first responders, students, and staff.  The Foundation is led by survivors, family members, first responders, educators, and community members – all of whom know firsthand the importance of these efforts. 

John-Michael Keyes, Founder of The “I Love U Guys” Foundation, aptly articulates the significance of technological enhancements in response plans, emphasizing that "the safety of students is inextricably linked to the security of their learning environments." Today, our technology safeguards more than 13 million students and empowers schools to:

• Lockdown doors swiftly, granting first responders immediate access.

• Detect vaping and bullying through sensor technology in bathrooms and locker rooms.

• Deter threats by setting alerts for Motion, Vehicles, or People of Interest.

• Prevent unauthorized visitors using security screens and cloud-based visitor management.

• Share live camera feeds with law enforcement for real-time action when necessary.

Joint Initiatives

We will kick off this partnership with a training program for Bay Area schools hosted at Verkada’s office in San Mateo, California, and we will be cohosting a webinar to provide an opportunity for school leaders, first responders, and security professionals to cultivate a shared vocabulary and standardized approach to implementing physical security.
