Achieve Best Practices With the Privacy & Security Checklist in Command
At Verkada, we understand that protecting your data is a crucial part of securing your physical systems. From two-factor authentication to role-based access control, we offer customers a variety of controls to improve the privacy and security of their systems.
To help customers better understand and review how their systems leverage these settings, we are excited to announce the Privacy & Security checklist. This checklist, visible only to Org Admins, lays out important privacy and security settings available in Verkada Command and guides them on how to take advantage of these capabilities.
The Privacy and Security checklist shows an Org Admin the following list of actions they can take:
Securing access to the system
Enforcing two-factor authentication for all users in the organization
Setting the amount of time a user’s session can last before having to log in again
Setting up and enabling SSO
Ensuring proper roles and permissions
Configuring SCIM to manage users and groups through identity managers like Okta or Azure
Adding a key contact for general communications, a billing key contact for billing-related communications, and a security key contact for security-related communications
Reviewing users to ensure your user list and role assignments are up to date
Reviewing groups to ensure users are added to the correct groups and granted the correct permissions
Reviewing preferences and actions taken in Command
Setting a geographic region (US, EU, Canada, Australia) where camera video and image data is stored
Confirming that all physical sites have appropriate signage in regards to camera recording
Reviewing and accepting the Analytics Terms and Conditions
Reviewing the logged actions of Command users and auditing for irregular activity
Forcing the logout of all users in their organization
As an Org Admin completes these actions, the corresponding items in the Privacy & Security Checklist and the overall completion score are automatically updated. If a certain action does not pertain to their organization, the Org Admin has the option to dismiss the step from the list. Upon completion, Org Admins will also have the ability to print a status report to share within their organization. To learn more about the checklist, please view our help article.
