Desk Station 2.0, PoI Alerts and Teams Calling: Bringing Even More Convenience and Security to Verkada Intercom
Each day, our customers answer over 40,000 intercom calls using our range of receiver options including the Verkada Desk Station, Verkada Pass app, Verkada Command, and even desk phones. They love the convenience of taking calls on the devices they use every day. At the same time, admins value the enhanced security their intercoms bring to entrances with powerful functionality like People Analytics and Motion Tracking.
Today, we’re announcing three new Verkada Intercom features that bring even more convenience and security to the Verkada intercom system: in-call person-of-interest (PoI) alerts, a redesigned Desk Station and support for Microsoft Teams calling.
In-call PoI alerts
To bring one of the most important alerts from Command to intercom calls, we've introduced the ability to surface PoI notifications in real time as a call is taking place.
With this update, Verkada receivers including Desk Station and Command will now surface PoI matches within seconds of the call starting. Any PoI matches will appear directly within the calling interface. PoI tags and notes relating to the person will appear on screen as well.
By providing PoI alerts within a call, call recipients and organizations can receive important context before making an entry decision while also responding more quickly to known persons of interest, ultimately better protecting their entrances.
Verkada Desk Station 2.0
We’ve also completely redesigned the Desk Station application with a new user interface and in-call features, more door controls and enhanced security functionality.
To provide receivers with more visibility into how an incoming call is being routed, we have added a new real-time call status feature. This feature displays natively on the intercom camera feed and allows receivers to see who the intercom is calling and whether someone has picked up, which is useful when a Desk Station is not the first receiver or when a call is missed. We’re also releasing better warnings and error messages to provide receivers with important information about any connectivity issues.
To provide rapid-response tools, the new Desk Station includes the ability to trigger a lockdown in order to instantly secure a building.
Support for Microsoft Teams calling
Verkada intercom makes answering intercom calls more convenient by allowing users to take calls on the devices they use every day – such as mobile phones or existing telephone systems. To continue making it as convenient as possible to receive intercom calls, organizations can now receive intercom video calls directly on the popular workplace productivity application Microsoft Teams.
With this integration, organizations can route intercom calls to their Teams users or devices to avoid disruption to existing workflows and to reduce device and software complexity. When a call comes in, users can answer via their existing Microsoft Teams interface and use Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) to unlock the door with the teams keypad. This integration is facilitated by an integration with CyberTwice.
Availability
All new intercom features will be available starting November 15, 2023 for all new and existing intercom customers. Desk Station software license prices are not changing. Existing Teams customers will pay $25 / intercom / month to receive intercom calls on the platform.
