Activate Intrusion Deterrence Devices with Your Wireless Alarms Solution
While alarm systems often focus on intrusion detection capabilities, intrusion deterrence measures are equally important. From catalytic converter theft to retail smash-and-grabs, some crimes simply occur too quickly for police to arrive in time. In these cases, deterrence devices - such as sirens and strobe lights - act as real-time responders that scare off intruders before they can do too much damage.
While Verkada’s Alarm Panel offers some capabilities around intrusion deterrence today, a wired panel does not fit the needs of every customer, particularly those who want a fully wireless alarm system.
With this in mind, we’re excited to announce the launch of Verkada’s newest Alarms product, the BX21 Wireless Relay. The Relay allows organizations to tie third-party wired deterrence devices into their Verkada Alarms solution, without the need for an alarm panel. These deterrence devices can be configured as automated alarm responses to instantly turn on when an alarm is triggered. This allows faster responses in situations where seconds count.
Like Verkada’s wireless intrusion sensors, the Relay communicates via our proprietary sub-GHz protocol to our Wireless Alarm Hub, allowing customers to seamlessly integrate deterrence devices into their wireless Alarms system. The Relay works similarly to a light switch that can be automatically turned on or off from the Hub. When an alarm is triggered, the Hub wirelessly tells the Relay to “flip the switch” and supply power to whatever deterrence device is plugged in. When the alarm is resolved in Command, the relay stops supplying power, turning the deterrence device off.
Multiple output devices can be wired to a single relay in parallel. Each Relay also supports one wired input, such as a motion sensor or door sensor.
