Introducing the CM42-S Mini Split Camera: Empowering Customers with 5MP Coverage in Discreet Environments

At Verkada, we’re always addressing the latest market needs through innovative designs of new products. The CM42-S–our newest split mini camera–is a prime example. With its small form factor and split design, the CM42-S is built for a variety of deployments and use cases where space is tight or discretion is required. From placement inside of an ATM to subtle locations within a retail environment, the CM42-S enables customers to more easily monitor an expanded set of locations without drawing attention.

The CM42-S comprises three core components: the sensor unit, the main unit, and a 2-meter (6 foot) USB-C cable that connects the two units. The sensor unit–a 5MP camera with 15 meters (49 feet) of IR range–offers clear, detailed image quality at day or night in a discreet form factor (H: 47.4mm / 1.9in, W: 36.4mm / 1.4in, L: 40.2mm / 1.6in). The main unit supplements the sensor unit with the necessary processing and storage for advanced analytics like AI-powered search, face search, vehicle attribute search, and more, with up to 90 days of onboard video storage. 

Essential to its flexible install, the CM42-S includes a long cable that bridges the two units. The cable enables customers to deploy the CM42-S in tight spaces, or in areas where clandestine monitoring is especially important and the sensor unit must remain separate from the main unit. The CM42-S also includes an HDMI port, so customers–especially those in retail environments–can stream CM42-S footage directly to a public viewing monitor for enhanced security. The CM42-S also includes an audio port for microphones–supporting video monitoring with audio feeds for holistic understanding of an incident.
