At Verkada, we are developing ground-breaking features to display real-time insights into what is happening across facilities. By leveraging the onboard processing and edge-based computing capabilities of our cameras, we’re able to introduce novel ways to analyze and visualize data. Cameras no longer serve as just a means for video analysis, but can also be used as a network of intelligent camera-based sensors.
These sensors, combined with relevant footage, allow teams to take quicker action, monitor incidents as they are occurring, and speed up investigations.
Today, we’re introducing Motion Plotting, the first of many applications that builds on the intelligent sensor capabilities of Verkada cameras.
Visualizing Motion in Context
Motion Plotting overlays motion detected by the camera on top of the Floor Plan. Getting started only requires calibrating your cameras to map their fields of view to the physical space. From there, Verkada’s powerful edge-based analytics take care of the rest - users can see a real-time heatmap of motion detected live across their uploaded floor plans.
Responding Quickly to an Incident
With Motion Plotting, teams can quickly identify motion in real-time, especially during critical situations. In an emergency, for example, Motion Plotting allows teams to see where people are moving and ensure there is no movement towards high-risk areas. Motion Plotting also enables teams to easily visualize motion that may be unexpected, allowing them to pinpoint incidents quickly and decisively as they are occurring.
At the same time, these teams can communicate real-time motion location data with first responders so they can act on the ground and better understand a situation as it develops.
Getting Started
Motion Plotting is available in Command from any web browser and on the VX51 Viewing Station’s Floor Plan Tile.
To get started with Motion Plotting on Floor Plans, you will need at least one uploaded Floor Plan in your organization with cameras placed on it. You will also need to calibrate the cameras for which you would like to view live motion heatmaps.
