New and Improved Floorplans Experience

Floorplans is a powerful feature in Command that enables users to visualize real-time activity across their spaces. With Floorplans, users have been able to detect movement and quickly access camera feeds to review live activity. Thanks to our sharing feature, users have also been able to reduce response times by sending Floorplans with video and feature access to external parties.

Simplified Navigation & User Experience

Today, we are excited to announce a completely redesigned user experience. First, we added a Floorplans button to the homepage that makes it more efficient for users to directly navigate to the page. 

Environmental Sensors can now be Added to Floorplans

We now support the ability for users to add and see environmental sensors. This change represents the first step towards making Floorplans the central hub for all our Verkada products.

Verkada environmental sensors provide an array of insights such as changes to humidity, temperature, motion, noise level, particulate matter, tamper detection, total volatile organic compounds, air quality, and vape detection. 

To gain additional insight, users can place a Verkada camera near an environmental sensor and get visual context into what’s causing changes. For example, if a sensor detects someone vaping in its proximity, a nearby and appropriately placed Verkada camera might be able to identify the person responsible for it.

Quickly See Live Device Status

Users can also see the real-time status of cameras and environmental sensor devices. Similar to our map view, green means the device is operational and is recording; orange means the device has gone offline or is otherwise experiencing technical issues. In the case that a camera or sensor falls offline, a user will be able to immediately identify the device and take action to resolve the issue.

Adding Custom Floorplans 

Finally, we have made it easier than ever to add a new floorplan. Click the “+ New Floorplans'' button on the top navigation bar, and upload a .pdf file of your floorplan. After this, drag-and-drop installed Verkada devices to the appropriate location on the map. For more detail on how you can customize Floorplans, visit our knowledge base.
