Background
In 2022, Signify, a global leader in lighting solutions, launched an ambitious initiative to transform its security operations. With a presence in over 70 countries and approximately 35,000 employees, Signify aimed to consolidate its fragmented security systems into a single, centralized control center.
By implementing the Verkada solution across 19 sites in seven countries, the company sought to enhance global oversight and responsiveness. The Challenge

Encouraged by this success, Signify extended Verkada's systems across its locations, achieving significant improvements:
Security Guard Optimization: At a Mexican facility alone, first-shift guard deployment was optimized with approximately 29% fewer guards required, while maintaining high security standards through smarter resource allocation with Verkada's automation capabilities. Centralized Control Center: The establishment of a centralized security operations center (SOC) enables remote area monitoring, real-time security responses, faster investigations, and simplified management.
Uniform Security Practices: The standardization of security procedures across all sites supports proactive risk management and scalability. The Command Connector also helps migrate existing camera systems to Verkada's cloud-based platform. "The Verkada hardware is good quality and with the Command Connector, I can use the existing cameras already installed from the previous provider but leverage Verkada's technology."

Even excluding theft prevention, cost reductions of 10-20% have been achieved. "Insurance claims premiums drop if you have the right monitoring and lower theft," Atias notes.
Reducing Bottlenecks: The Signify team is supported by round-the-clock technical support. "95% of our inquiries to Verkada Support are answered within 20 minutes, allowing our teams to work more efficiently without delays," says Atias.

Optimized Security Coverage: Advanced remote monitoring and AI-driven alerts enable guards to oversee multiple areas efficiently, ensuring rapid response to critical events. Remote Surveillance Capability: Guards began using centralized computer stations for monitoring, with plans to implement iPad-based mobile monitoring for enhanced flexibility.
