Since our founding in 2016, Verkada has become a global leader in enterprise physical security, serving over 14,000 customers with deployments in 63 countries. Our video security product line started with two dome cameras, and has expanded to include fisheye, bullet, and mini dome form factors, all of which feature edge storage, cloud management and onboard analytics.
Today, we’re excited to announce Verkada’s first multisensor camera, the CH52-E. The CH52-E includes four independent 5MP sensors to offer customers the wide coverage benefits of a fisheye camera, combined with the high-resolution and image clarity of a dome camera.
“We have a lot of places where it is difficult to run cable or install cameras. So, if I can get four high quality shots with one placement, that’s fantastic for me”, says David Chavez, Infrastructure Architecture Manager at The Salvation Army Western Territory. “Really like this product, looking forward to using it a lot more!”
Comprehensive Coverage, Uncompromised Detail
The four 5MP varifocal sensors on the multisensor collectively provide 20MP of resolution, allowing for comprehensive coverage while maintaining image detail. Each sensor can be independently repositioned and zoomed up to 2.5x, giving our customers the flexibility to tailor coverage to their needs. For example, a multisensor mounted on a corner of a building could have two sensors pointed to observe activity along each wall, the third sensor pointed straight down to see visitors and staff passing underneath, and the fourth sensor oriented to zoom-in on the parking lot across the street.
“We provide a lot of deployable kits for customers in the construction industry, who regularly move them around sites. Having four cameras in one with a broad field of view is very exciting for them”, says Patrick Murphy, Founder & President at Gridless Power
Powerful Processing at Every Angle
Each sensor is powered by the same processors inside our latest generation dome series, giving customers the image quality, on-board processing, and analytics performance of four independent cameras. Each camera is individually configurable, allowing image settings, analytics and retention settings to be customized for each sensor.
With onboard IR illuminators (30m/98ft range) and Verkada’s WDR technology, the CH52-E delivers outstanding image detail in low-light conditions and balanced light exposure in high-contrast scenes. This helps customers recognize people and objects as lighting conditions change throughout the day and drives optimal performance for onboard AI-based motion detection and people analytics features.
Enterprise-Grade Hardware to Withstand Severe Conditions
The CH52-E is built with enterprise-grade components to ensure performance in the most challenging indoor and outdoor conditions. Sealed interior components have full IP66 protection against dust particles and heavy rain. The robust exterior housing provides IK10 rated protection against direct impacts from vandals, hail and flying debris.
Single Cable Install for Reduced Cost and Complexity
Verkada’s multisensor saves money compared to deploying multiple cameras to achieve the same coverage. With Verkada’s multisensor, customers can now support four independent cameras with a single PoE++ port, thereby reducing their install time and infrastructure footprint significantly. This leads to up-front install savings of up to 75%, as well as simpler ongoing maintenance.
“We are excited for Verkada’s new multisensor camera because of the flexibility it provides for our design teams and our customers”, says Garrett Bradlyn, Director of Technology, Sales, and Business Development at Biztec. “Requiring less network port density is one of the biggest advantages of the multisensor camera. I only need one port on the network side so it’s quick to deploy and scale.”
Key Use Cases
The combination of expansive coverage and simple installation makes the multisensor the ideal choice for the following install locations.
Corners - For campus quads, airports, police departments and building exteriors
High Ceilings - For retail centers, hotel lobbies, grocery stores, manufacturing floors, assembly halls, correction facilities, gymnasiums and stadiums
Intersections - For roadways, hallways, corridors and warehouse traffic monitoring
Open Spaces - For garages, car dealerships, parking lots, parks and playgrounds
“The multisensor is the camera we have been looking for.”, says Patrick Allen, Director of Network Services at Dairy Farmers of America. “Now, I can get complete coverage in places like warehouses, parking lots and corners of key facilities – all with a simple and quick installation.”
