Stay Ahead of Critical Access Control Events With New Notifications

One of the key benefits of Verkada’s cloud-based Access Control is the ability to enable organizations to see what is happening across their buildings in real-time. With our Live View, teams have been able to instantly see all access-based events, including access granted and rejected, as well as doors being forced or held open. Today, we’re introducing a new set of proactive notifications to help organizations stay on top of critical events.

Available notifications include:

• Door Forced Open

• Door Held Open

• Offline AC41

• Suspicious Entries Within a Set Time Frame

As soon as a preselected event occurs, users will receive an immediate notification so they can respond in real-time. This enables organizations to have greater confidence in their ability to ensure safety across their buildings without actively monitoring every door event.

Additionally, alerts can be customized based on location and individuals, allowing organizations to ensure notifications are being sent to the appropriate users across facilities, security, IT and any other teams needing insights.

Getting Started

To create an alert, you will need to be an administrator for your Verkada Access Control account. To access your alerts, click on the ⠇to the left of your site name and select Settings.

Below Mobile Geofencing and Lockdown Scenarios, there will be the option for Alerts.

To add a new alert, click Add Alert and follow the steps. Users can choose between a range of event types, including:

• Security Alert: These are notifications for when doors are detected to be held or forced open.

• System Alert: These are proactive notifications for when an AC41 access control unit falls offline.

• Suspicious Entry Alert: These are notifications that will alert users when someone badges into a door outside within a specific time range that you designate as "suspicious."

From there, follow the steps, including selecting which doors you’d like to be alerted for, as well as which users should receive a notification. If you’d like to create different alerts for different users, such as at a different location, you can create a new alert with those specific doors and users. Doing so ensures only that the relevant users will be notified of the events they can respond to.
