Today, we are excited to announce that Verkada Access Control has been recognized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) in the 2021 International Design Excellence Awards® (IDEA®) in the Commercial & Industrial Products category.
“Simplicity and scalability are at the core of how we designed our enterprise Access Control product. We highly value the install and user experience throughout development, always approaching design solutions with a user-centered mindset," says Patrick Mulcahy, Lead Industrial Designer at Verkada, "Its native integration with our video security, alarms, and sensor product provides our customers with a seamless solution for their security needs.”
Simplifying Access Control
Designed to bring ease and scale to the world of physical security, Verkada Access Control reduces management overhead by reducing on-premise infrastructure. The AC41 Door Controller is built for easy installation with a simplified wiring layout and removable cassette system, making it faster for installers to connect the controller to the doors and readers.
Pairing with it, the AD31 Door Reader was designed with a minimalistic approach to ensure clear communication of LED-enabled reader states. All hardware devices are centralized to the intuitive Command software platform, where one-click integration between cameras and doors delivers instant video insights into building events.
Post-submission, the AX11 IO Controller was newly added to the Access Control line. The AX11 enables more building infrastructure to be seamlessly integrated into the Verkada ecosystem, with 16 inputs and 16 outputs sporting removable connectors for plug-and-play functionality.
Celebrating Innovative & Transformative Technology
"IDEA recognizes products and services that encourage, inspire, and push our industry forward," says the IDSA.
A globally-renowned top design awards program, IDEA received over 2080 entries (highest ever in IDEA history) from around the world across 20 competition categories. Their unique jurying process maintains anonymity for all entries to ensure all decisions are solely based upon excellence of design innovation, user experience, appropriate aesthetics, benefit to the client and benefit to society.
Past winners are responsible for billions of dollars in sales, have saved lives, and have forever changed how people live, work, and play. Apple’s original iPhone (Gold, 2008), Tesla’s Model S (Gold, 2013) and the Oculus Rift (Bronze, 2016) are just three recent examples of IDEA winners that have transformed their industry.
