Announcing Vehicle Analytics for More Efficient Investigations

At Verkada, we’re focused on building the world’s most robust physical security solution powered by advanced computer vision technology and edge-based analytics. Today, we’re adding a new cloud-based feature for customers to bring greater simplicity, speed, and awareness to their investigations with Vehicle Analytics.

Available across Verkada’s Dome Series, Vehicle Analytics uses powerful edge-based capabilities to detect vehicles and filter results based on vehicle colour and body type.

Vehicle Analytics is a powerful resource for any industry, ranging from businesses that operate parking lots to entire cities that must monitor and protect public streets.

“As a bank, we must stay on high alert of suspicious vehicles that can result in potentially harmful situations for our customers,” shared Bill Weber, Information Security Officer at Susquehanna Community Bank. “Vehicle Analytics allows us to quickly find any reported vehicles and see their history not just at a single branch, but across all of our locations. We can then easily share any footage as needed with the police for investigating.”

How it works

Vehicle Analytics uses the powerful onboard processing power of the Dome Series to analyze vehicles as they appear in frame. As vehicles are detected, high-resolution images are cropped and initial analysis is conducted. Select metadata is then sent to Verkada’s cloud-based Command platform, where users can create filtered views based on time, date, model, and colour.

How to get started

Vehicle Analytics is available on any second-generation Dome Series camera (models starting with a CD). To get started:

1. Open Settings
2. Go to Additional Settings
3. Click Enable Vehicle History
