Command Updates: Audit Log Upgrades, Org-Wide 2-Factor Authentication and Archive Permissions

Today, we’re excited to announce a number of updates to the Verkada Command platform with additional features and tools focused on the security of your organization and accounts.

In this update, we’re introducing improvements to our camera audit log export tools, the ability to enforce 2-factor authentication across your organization, and additional permission levels for your organization’s archives.

Camera Audit Logs

Whether you are keeping a record of all camera-based activity across your organization or need to perform an audit for an annual review, our new single audit log for all cameras brings simplicity and efficiency to exporting critical data across all of your organization’s cameras.

With our original audit log tools, administrators were required to individually review or export the data from each of their cameras. Now, administrators can navigate to the Camera Admin page to perform a single export of all camera logs for the previous 7, 14 or 30 days, as well as any custom date range (up to 30 days).

Org-Wide 2-Factor Authentication

Last month, we introduced new tools for organizations to integrate enterprise SCIM and SSO solutions to provide additional layers of security. In addition to these added measures, many administrators want to enforce 2-factor authentication (2FA).

Historically, users have been able to enable 2FA for their account in Command. With the addition of org-wide 2FA, administrators can now require that all users set up 2FA via SMS or an MFA solution to securely access their Verkada account.

To enable org-wide 2FA, administrators will need to click on Admin > Privacy & Security. Toggle on Enforce 2FA.

Upon a user’s next login, they will be prompted to add a 2FA service. Additionally, administrators can force users to reset their 2FA solution or force a logout.

Archive Permissioning

With our cloud-based archives, teams are able to easily save and share important video clips. With the addition of Archive Permissioning, administrators can now place additional controls for how users can use archived footage.

When enabled, users will continue to be able to create, access, and download public archives, while only users with the role of Organization Administrator can delete archived footage and create private archives.

With these additional permissions, organizations can ensure the protection and security of sensitive footage that has been saved for ongoing investigations.
