At Verkada, we are not only building the most intuitive and secure access control solution for administrators, but also the most seamless door unlock experience for everyday users. Today, we’re excited to bring the ease and security of mobile credentials to even more people with the ability to unlock doors using NFC on Android devices.
Leverage a secure, short-range communication protocol
NFC scans over a very short range (from a touch to 10cm), which allows for a stable and secure connection and enables organizations to improve security by requiring explicit user intent - placing their phone close to a reader - to unlock a door.
Admins choose if phone unlock is required
Mobile NFC also allows administrators to choose whether to add an extra layer of security for individual doors by requiring that a phone be unlocked before a user is allowed to badge in, creating an additional layer of authentication.
For lower security doors where quick entry is critical - such as in high traffic, internal areas - admins can permit users to badge in without unlocking their phones.
Simple setup
To enable Android NFC, admins simply need to claim their license and enable Mobile NFC for their organization and users in Command. Once invited by their admin, users can get access to this feature by updating to the latest version of the Verkada Pass app on the Google Playstore.
