Accelerate Response Times with Real-Time Person of Interest Notifications

Historically, finding a person required sifting through dozens or hundreds of hours of video footage. With Verkada’s People Analytics, users can dramatically reduce the time for these investigations by searching for people across their network of Verkada cameras based on characteristics like clothing colour, gender, or even a face.

Today, we’re proud to announce the next evolution of those capabilities with the launch of Person of Interest Notifications. By combining the power of Verkada’s People Analytics with our proactive alerting capabilities, we’re now able to bring instant, around-the-clock monitoring to person-based incidents.

Proactively Identify People of Interest

Leveraging Verkada’s powerful edge-based processing, Person of Interest Notifications deliver real-time alerts when a specific individual is detected onsite. The feature works by matching the face detected in frame with an existing image from the organization or an uploaded photo.

Once the person’s face is detected, users receive a notification via email or SMS with an image and a link to review associated footage. From there, users can track additional movement across their Verkada cameras and take appropriate next steps. This can range from archiving and sharing footage with first responders to alerting staff of VIPs.

Getting Started

To get started, Organization Admins should navigate to the Settings page and enable Person of Interest Notifications for the organization. Then, Site Admins can navigate to the Notifications Page using the bell icon on the top right. From this page, they can click Manage and then Create New to select one or more faces as Persons of Interest. (Also ensure that both People History and Face Search are enabled for the appropriate cameras in Settings using these instructions ).

To receive Person of Interest notifications, Site Admins and Site Viewers should then click on the gear icon from the Notifications page and choose SMS, Email, or both. Once a Person of Interest has been detected by the camera, Site Admins and Site Viewers who have subscribed to these notifications will receive an initial SMS/email. Additional detections of the same Person of Interest on the same camera will not notify within the 15 minutes immediately following the initial detection.
