Building with impact: Verkada is one of Inc. Magazine’s 2022 Best in Business Honorees
As we've grown as a company, so has our impact on society: with more than 14,000 customers across 63 countries, we work every day to ensure that the schools, hospitals and businesses that we live and work in are safer and more secure. We’re proud that Inc. Magazine recognized this mission-critical work and our impact on the world by placing us on its annual Best in Business list.
Each year, Inc. recognizes companies who have made an impact beyond sales and funding and put purpose ahead of profit to make a positive impact in the world.
Here's how our commitment to product, people and purpose helps shape our impact.
Product
We work hard to build security products that give customers the most visibility across their organization. Each product is designed with the customer in mind and is optimized for ease of use, functionality and scalability. Our number one goal in developing our connected products is to enable security teams to take action and minimize security risks. And we do this across industries like schools, hospitals, retail and manufacturing.
One example of how we're helping to make schools safer is with Mission Dolores Academy. The school can now activate a lockdown within seconds, authorize specific users to access parts of the building, and share video clips with parents or authorities when necessary in real time.
People
Verkada Gives is an example of a companywide initiative that enables our employees to give back in meaningful ways. Our team is encouraged to serve the local community and social missions they believe in. We volunteer and consistently provide donations each month as a company to fuel positive social change. And our charitable-giving strategy is fueled by our employees and the organizations they care about most.
We've worked with well-known non-profit organizations like the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and Second Harvest Food Bank. But our work also extends to smaller local nonprofits and charities in regions where Verkada offices are located so we can impact more communities.
Purpose
To extend our mission of protecting people and assets to underserved communities, we launched our Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Security Camera Donation Program. The program was initiated by a group of Verkada employees who grappled with unprecedented levels of violence and anti-Asian hate crimes, which increased by 73% nationwide. To date, we have donated security cameras and software licenses to AAPI-owned organizations in San Francisco, Oakland, Chicago and San Jose to businesses and individuals seeking enhanced protection in each region. We are looking to grow and make an impact in more AAPI communities in 2023 and beyond.
