Free and Extended Cloud Backup Now Available for Command Connector

We’re excited to announce that Command Connector customers can now enable cloud backup for their non-Verkada camera channels. All Verkada camera licenses include 30 days of free cloud backup, with options to purchase extensions to the initial 30 days. Introducing CD63 and CD63-E Next-Gen Dome Cameras

Verkada continues to expand its next-generation line of cameras with the CD63 indoor and CD63-E outdoor dome cameras. The CD63 and CD63-E include large image sensors with 4K resolution, advanced optical lenses, 40 meters / 130 feet IR range – critical for sharp images in low-light conditions – and Ambarella CV72 processors for advanced analytics, like AI-powered search. These components – with their focus on image quality and real-time processing at the edge – collectively make the CD63 and CD63-E optimal for environments where detailed face and vehicle capture are critical to investigations. Consistent with this new generation, the CD63 and CD63-E cameras also offer easy installation and a ground-up industrial design, so organizations can install them quickly at scale. AI-Powered Search with Reverse Image Analysis

Verkada’s latest improvement to AI-powered search – incorporating reverse image search – analyzes photos relevant to investigations and delivers the likeliest set of matching footage from across one’s fleet. Reverse image search enables organizations to upload photos of standalone objects (e.g., a suitcase left unattended) to see who might have previously held or carried the object – a use case with wide-ranging security benefits. Organizations can also use reverse image search to upload a photo of an individual whose face might be partially visible in order to see potential matches in one’s footage. New Camera Mounts

The four new camera mounts provide a handful of installation and weatherproofing benefits for our next-generation cameras, while ensuring backward compatibility with existing camera lines. The new Standard Pendant Cap (ACC-MNT-PEND-1) provides stable top-mounted support for dome, fisheye (including the new CF83-E), and multisensor cameras. The new Umbrella Pendant Cap (ACC-MNT-UPEND-1) is built for outdoor CD62-E, CD52-E, CD42-E, CF83-E, CF81-E cameras, and provides the same top-supported mounting style as the Standard Pendant Cap, with strong protection against inclement weather. The new Circle Junction Box (ACC-MNT-CJBOX-1) promotes a tight fit–with more aesthetic appeal than a square junction box–of corresponding circular dome and fisheye cameras. Finally, the new Angle Mount (ACC-MNT-ANGLE-1) allows for better positioning of fisheye series cameras–angling them at 30 degrees from a wall–to optimize the camera’s field of view. CM42-S Mini Split Camera

The CM42-S features a small form factor and split design, making it optimal for a variety of flexible deployments and use cases. Customers can use the CM42-S in tight spaces like the inside of an ATM, or in discreet areas on a retail countertop. The 5MP sensor, separate main unit with an advanced processor, options for HDMI streaming and microphone inputs, and a lengthy 2-meter / 6-foot USB-C cable that connects the sensor and main units, makes the CM42-S an ideal choice for customers seeking comprehensive, yet subtle coverage in a variety of indoor spaces. Next-Generation Cameras

The latest generation cameras–beginning with our CP63-E 4K PTZ and CF83-E fisheye–set a new industry standard for image quality and hardware design. The cameras are built to optimize image quality, simple installation, and advanced analytics. The large sensors and advanced optical lenses, for instance, support precise image quality where lighting conditions are not ideal, like at night, during harsh weather, or in high-contrast scenes. These sensors also minimize digital noise, resulting in clear images with little grain. This next generation also includes the Ambarella CV7x line of onboard processors for AI-powered analytics, and an overall design that expedites installation and provides durability in inclement weather. Enterprise Controlled Encryption (ECE)

Verkada encrypts video data at rest and in transit. ECE builds on this encryption framework by giving customers control over their data encryption. Leveraging a well-recognized technique called client-side encryption, customers can choose to keep some keys to themselves and share them with Verkada and third parties only if they want to, such as working with Verkada’s technical support team. ECE improves on Verkada’s already robust data protection measures–empowering customers with even greater control over their data. For more details, read the full announcement.

AI-Powered Alerts

AI-powered search offers a unique and powerful tool for Verkada customers to search their footage using their own words in a freeform text bar. AI-powered alerts adds an actionable element to AI-powered search: customers can now create alerts anytime the subject of a freeform search query is detected on a camera. Customers can, for example, receive an alert via email or text every time a camera detects a person not wearing a construction helmet, when a specific truck carrying a shipment arrives at a logistics facility, or when a suspicious person with highly-specific attributes enters an area. AI-powered alerts, in short, helps our customers proactively address operational challenges and mitigate security concerns. For more details, read the full announcement.

Improved Video Streaming

“Latency” (or, the total delay from when video is captured on a Verkada camera to when it is displayed in the Command browser) and “time-to-first-frame” (or, the time it takes for Command to begin video playback once the video stream is requested, like when using the history player) constitute two critical factors in our customers’ overall streaming experience. With our introducing two new streaming technologies into Command–WebCodecs and HTTP/2–our customers experience sub-second latency (870 ms, a 65% reduction) and 1.1 second time-to-first-frame (a 50% reduction) when streaming video footage in Command.
